Gingerbread Man Recipe

Did you know that gingerbread was used for ceremonial purposes during the ancient Greek and Egyptian times? It’s true! During the 11th century ginger was a spice that was brought back for the cooks of the rich folks to experiment with. The first gingerbread man was given to Queen Elizabeth I and from there was exchanged as a token of love.
Is that time of year for families to come together and enjoy each others company! Lets top it off with this gingerbread man cookie recipe!
 
Ingredients
  • 6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 4 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 4 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup SPLENDA No Calorie Sweetener, Granulated
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 3 tablespoons water
Directions
  1. Mix flouer, baking soda, baking powder, and spices in large mixing bowl
  2. Mix cream butter, splenda granulated sweetner and salt together in a large mixing bowl. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition. Add molasses and water. Stir well. Add the flour mixture and stir until well blended.
  3. Refrigerate dough for 1-2 hours before rolling out and cutting into shapes
  4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  5. Roll cookie dough out slightly less that 1/4 inch. Cut into desired shapes.
  6. Bake in preheated oven 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned on the bottom.
